City of Yuma Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex (PAAC)

Project Details

The City of Yuma’s 50-acre Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex (PAAC) is designed for elite tournament play. The complex features six 325-foot lighted softball fields that support both league and tournament use, along with an irrigation storage lake, concessions building, state-of-the-art PA system and digital scoreboards. Additional amenities include an outdoor café, meeting and umpire rooms, a playground and other support spaces.

The PAAC is unique in its ability to honor the site’s history while reestablishing it as a place of connection. Drawing inspiration from Yuma’s historic role as a crossroads of the American Southwest, the design emphasizes the idea of convergence. Today, the complex serves as a gathering space for diverse groups united by a shared interest in athletics and stands as a new source of community pride. This theme is expressed through coordinated visual elements, including patterned hardscape, shaded structures and thoughtfully arranged seating areas, with the main concessions building serving as a central focal point that anchors activity and reinforces a strong sense of place.
