Tucson International Airport (TUS) Terminal Optimization Program

The Terminal Optimization Program was the largest of several construction projects encompassed under the airport’s ‘A Brighter TUS’ improvements. The project was comprised of three main categories: the relocation of Security Screening Checkpoints (SSCPs) at both concourses, concessions, and modifications and upgrades to the airport infrastructure. The goal for this multi-phase 50,000 SF terminal renovation project was to increase airport revenue, improve passenger processing, enhance customer service and optimize the use of the space. DWL designed 23,000 SF of security checkpoint areas leading to both concourses in the terminal while keeping the existing checkpoints operational. In addition, all TAA administrative functions were moved from scattered locations to a single, newly renovated area on an underutilized mezzanine level of the terminal.
