Midwestern University Glendale Dr. Dobbelaere Science Hall

The Dr. Dobbelaere Science Hall is the hub of research and laboratory sciences teaching at Midwestern University, supporting the College of Health Sciences that includes the Nursing and Nurse Anesthesiology programs. This new 66,076 SF building features innovative teaching space for both didactic and skills-based learning, dry and wet research labs and faculty offices.

The first floor is organized around two large multipurpose teaching labs, each equipped with reconfigurable mobile tables to support a range of skill-based training exercises. Teaching stations include integrated AV and camera systems that record and project instruction to monitors lining the perimeter. A mobile, zoomable camera in the labs allows any station to function as an instructional node. Four adjacent classrooms can be combined into a single large venue for collaborative learning, events or conferences.

The second floor is dedicated to research labs and student-focused spaces, including break rooms, a student lounge, conference rooms and breakout areas. Part of this floor was designated as shell space for future expansion, and DWL infilled a portion of it with labs in 2021. The third floor is dedicated to faculty offices, staff support areas and the Dean’s suite.
