McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park Roundhouse, Turntable + Railyard

Project Details

The McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park’s Roundhouse, Turntable + Railyard project is a vibrant and imaginative new addition to one of Scottsdale’s most iconic public parks. Designed to expand opportunities for play and community engagement, the project introduces a dynamic blend of architecture, recreation and public art.

At the heart of the development is the 9,450 SF Roundhouse, which features a custom-designed, three-level indoor play structure inspired by the historic Arizona Railroad Engine #6. This immersive experience invites children and families to explore, climb and interact within a space that celebrates the park’s railroad heritage. The Roundhouse also includes a 900 SF meeting space, offering flexible use for community gatherings and events.

Complementing the Roundhouse are two major site enhancements:

  • The Railyard – a 5,000 SF splash pad that provides a refreshing and playful outdoor experience.
  • The Turntable – a 10,000 SF public plaza featuring a sunken amphitheater and a striking public art installation, creating a versatile venue for performances, relaxation and cultural expression.

Together, these elements form a cohesive and engaging environment that honors the park’s legacy while inviting new generations to play, connect and imagine.
