Gila River Indian Community Huhugam Heritage Center Alterations + Expansion

Project Details

DWL partnered with the Gila River Indian Community, museum staff, stakeholders and the Tribal Projects Department to transform an unfinished interior space within the community’s cultural center into a new museum exhibition area, lobby and museum store. A newly designed entrance creates a warm, welcoming arrival experience for visitors. The project introduces a new mezzanine and a flexible gathering space to support community discussions and presentations. Additional upgrades include a state-of-the-art climate control system and a refined interior palette, with freshly painted white walls and ceilings providing a clean backdrop for the museum’s exhibits.
