This 14,000 SF fire station houses four apparatus bays, living quarters for 10 department personnel, a full kitchen and a 1,000 SF fully-equipped fitness facility.
INSPIRED DESIGN:
The design and materials were selected for ease of construction while providing a beloved home to the crew.
THOUGHTFUL STEWARDSHIP:
The design integrates a sustainable building philosophy by bringing in natural light, providing operable windows at the living quarters, and incorporating water-saving features such as indigenous landscaping and dual-flushing water closets. Deeply overhung windows and a large, shaded patio were brought into the design to create shelter from the harsh desert environment.
CREATIVE TEAMWORK:
The Owner representatives, contractor, and design team collaborated intensely to meet the 12 months goal. Opening this station in such a short time saved the project cost and could house the crew and serve the community early.
ENDURING COMMITMENT:
The crew was so happy with the station design that they nicknamed this station “Cloud 9.”
