Surprise Stadium Clubhouse Improvements
The 124-acre Surprise Recreation Campus is home to Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals and Texas Rangers. Surprise Stadium serves as the spring training facility for both professional teams and other community events. In addition to the stadium, the complex includes two covered batting tunnels, 14 practice fields with additional amenities and private 37,000 square foot outfield clubhouses for each team. With recent renovations in 2016, each clubhouse has been renovated to meet current standards and consists of administrative offices, impressive views of the playing field, and upgraded player facilities and coaches areas. Player improvements include new hydrotherapy rooms, locker rooms, training areas, and kitchen/dining rooms, while improved coaches and support personnel spaces were also enhanced to increase efficiency and accommodate the entire team inside each clubhouse.
In addition to player enhancements, the renovations also improved the spectators experience for game days. The improved lower seating bowl includes approximately 7,000 fixed seats, 3,000 berm seats in the outfield, 500 upper deck seats and accompanying party decks and suites. While Surprise Stadium is primarily home for the Major League teams, it also hosts many community events, amateur baseball tournaments, high school sporting events, movie nights, holiday celebrations and youth leadership gatherings.
