City of Mesa, Falcon Field Airport Terminal Building Upgrades
The Falcon Field Airport Terminal and Administration Building is a single-story structure originally constructed in 1971. This project is a comprehensive remodel and update to the entire terminal building and site area, including new exterior finishes and materials, aesthetic features with illuminated accents, a multi-level covered patio area, and new desert landscaping. A detailed space programming and codes study was conducted to ensure the facility upgrades met current ADA and building code requirements for public accessibility.
The exterior design is contemporary, highlighted by dramatic aesthetic elements that echo the shape of both an airplane wing and the characteristic arched roof line of WWII era hangars that are part of Falcon Field’s heritage. The interior was completely gutted and remodeled with an all new floor plan to serve the airport’s evolving general aviation needs. Updates have been made to the wall finishes, floor coverings, furniture, plumbing, lighting, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems.
