Barrett, The Honors College @ Arizona State University
Barrett Honors College is a 531,000 square foot, LEED® Gold certified college complex designed from the ground up to give intellectually-engaged students a residence for their undergraduate education. Barrett’s seven residential communities house 1,730 students and are designed for optimum flexibility and creativity. Eleven classrooms, which double as meeting spaces, are on the ground level, while on the top floors social/study “sky lounges” provide stunning views. Each community is arranged around its own court, and the courts are progressively more private as the students advance in maturity.
Honors Hall, a 37,000 square foot multi-use facility located at the heart of the Barrett complex, includes a community center with lounges, activity rooms, computer labs, a fitness center, and a 550-seat dining center that is subdivided into an array of different sized spaces. The 13-station servery provides fresh, high-quality food daily.
The Sustainability House at Barrett, a student-driven community of 203 students, features low-consumption plumbing fixtures, enhanced energy monitoring, a green roof and organic garden – all which offer students the opportunity to study and experience sustainable living concepts.
Designed in collaboration with Ikon.5 Architects.
