Focused on hospitality, Scottsdale Airport’s new Aviation Business Center (ABC) features high-end, modern amenities and breathtaking vistas, all with the goal of creating a welcoming experience for the users and Scottsdale community. The ABC is the hub of the aviation campus—a place where the community can come to share ideas and enjoy the Airport experience.
THOUGHTFUL STEWARDSHIP:
The redevelopment achieved LEED Gold certification, as the site design responds to its surrounding environment and takes advantage of the solar orientation strategically positioned to maximize views and daylight, while minimizing solar heat gain. The ABC’s main glass façade faces north; integrated overhangs and shade screens provide additional protection from south and west exposure
CREATIVE TEAMWORK:
Working closely with local artists, the public art displayed in the building’s elevator lobbies depict Scottsdale’s regional aviation history and the surrounding Arizona desert landscape.
ENDURING COMMITMENT:
Augmenting the Airport’s historic contribution to the nation is the Thunderbird Field II Veterans Memorial. The memorial features a WWII era Boeing-Stearman PT-17 aircraft suspended above the plaza, providing visitors an opportunity to engage with the airport’s rich history as a World War II flight training ground.
