This newest Maricopa County branch library/nature center is located just inside the entrance to White Tank Mountain Regional Park. The natural desert park setting will be complemented by a balanced use of energy saving and environmentally friendly strategies. The library design requires careful protection and restoration of the park site, creation of an image that exemplifies the Sonoran Desert, and articulation of an interior that is an inviting library and nature center environment. Additionally, it will take advantage of mountain views and adjacent park activities while meeting the needs of a diverse population.

The 29,000 s.f. facility will feature a children’s story room, dedicated “Teen Oasis,” on-site café, a meeting room space for 50, and a Friends of the Library Bookshop.

Scheduled completion is for July, 2010.
