Two floors contain faculty offices and 25 wet labs, a modular cold room, a confocal microscope facility and a variety of shared ultra centrifuge and chemical storage areas. Topping the building is a vivarium with 14 wards, including one BSL-3 animal holding room, seven small wet labs, three procedure rooms and a surgical suite for USDA-covered species. Adjacent to the vivarium is a large, naturally lit gross anatomy lab with 36 stations and three large labs for ‘dry’ anatomy studies.
The project was initially designed to be LEED® certified, though the client has since opted not to pursue accreditation.
