Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport - West Terminal Expansion – Phase 1
Since 2007, DWL Architects + Planners have held a contract with the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority to provide airport architectural services on an as-needed basis. DWL is currently working on phase 2 of the West Terminal Expansion.

Phase 1 - The West Terminal Expansion project which opened November 2010 consists of a new 25,000 SF passenger terminal building designed to accommodate the growing needs of an existing growing facility. The terminal added two additional passenger gates and provides new, larger rental car, concessions, holdrooms, security areas, and baggage claim areas. Gateway's unique courtyard area for passengers was expanded with a restaurant and seating situated within a regional desert-themed landscape.

Phase 2 - Will add a 32,000 SF expansion to the Phase 1 project. The expansion will provide additional capacity for Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport including two aircraft gates (for a total of eight gates), associated boarding areas, retail and food/beverage concession areas. The new portion will also contain the arrival lobby, baggage claim and rental car for the airport. The overall design intent is to create a flexible and efficient building that provides a unique passenger experience, while being sensitive to the existing terminal's character and the surrounding airport image.
